Pippa Middleton’s Charming Country Wedding Invitation is Actually a Reception Card Featuring Maidenhair Ferns
Pippa’s Charming Country Wedding Themed Invitations
Pippa Middleton’s charming country wedding invitations bely the glamorous fairytale celebrations she planned for her marriage to James Matthews. With every detail a closely guarded secret, there was delight when a glamorous guest posted an Instagram image of Pippa’s wedding invitation. However, in a twist, the invitation in question is actually a reception card for the evening party at the Middleton estate in Bucklebury. The type is set among illustrated maidenhair ferns and matches the ‘Maidenhair Fern’ tiara that jewelers created for Pippa’s marriage.
Brides will know that a reception card is part of a wedding invitation which is included when the reception occurs at a separate location from the ceremony, or when there are mulitple wedding events for guests to attend. With several wedding weekend events including a wedding breakfast, the church ceremony, a drinks reception, and then the evening reception, guests would have needed multiple invitations.
Perfect Wedding Details Kept a Closely Guarded Secret
While we cannot see the formal invitation to the church ceremony or the other events of the weekend, we do have a peek at the reception invitation to ‘The Manor’ in Bucklebury, Berkshire, the estate of her parents Carol and Michael Middleton. Since this story was published, we also have pictures of the decorator’s setup from inside the reception.
In keeping with Pippa’s classic spring pastel color theme, the invitations were decorated with creeping pale green vines. The reception card is double layered with a heavy white front and what appears to be a heavier weight back that might be metallic or tinted pale green.
There may also be a gold embossed rim on the cards, judging from the harsh dark shadow at the top of the invitition, and they appear to be embossed. The reception card is personalized with the guests names in hand-written calligraphy, though the invitation itself is printed. Reports from matching menu cards being sold on eBay state that those cards have a ‘green edge’, so that might be what we’re seeing.
Invitation Shared on Instagram by Pippa’s Fashionable Guest
This Instagram snapshot of Pippa’s wedding invitation was shared by Clémence von Mueffling, along with another shot of her and escort William in a handsome black tuxedo seated on a staircase in preparation for the ceremony. Clémence herself was clothed in the beautiful pink tulle dress that we believe to be Valentino’s Star-Studded Dress and the plush pink heels shown beside the invitation.
It appears Clémence may have shot the images at Englefield House, the historic property where many of the high profile guests were staying and a wedding breakfast and drinks following the ceremony were held.
The pair of guests were beautifully clothed, even seated, and it’s a shame that the posts were removed, along with what may have been other snaps of Englefield House and the wedding weekend.
